Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ReadMeliora (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
- Account. Email address and authentication data needed to create and secure your account (passwords are handled by our auth stack; we do not store plaintext passwords).
- Library content. URLs, titles, article HTML or extracted text, uploaded files, inbound email you send to your personal address, labels, highlights, notes, read state, and related metadata.
- Inbound email. Messages and attachments sent to your ReadMeliora inbound address, plus allowed sender addresses you configure.
- API / extension use. Requests authenticated with your API key (for example saving a page or file from the browser extension), including timing needed for security and abuse prevention.
- Usage and diagnostics. Product analytics and error information (for example page views in the app, feature usage, and exception reports) to operate and improve the Service.
- Device preferences. Settings stored in your browser (such as theme, focus mode, and highlight sidebar preference) via cookies or localStorage.
How we use information
We use this information to:
- provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
- save, extract, display, search, and organize your library;
- send transactional email (for example account verification or password reset);
- process inbound mail you choose to forward;
- monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and debug issues;
- understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with processors only as needed to run the Service:
- Supabase. PostgreSQL database and S3-compatible object storage for library files and highlight images.
- Resend. Transactional email and inbound email processing.
- PostHog. Product analytics, exception tracking, and related operational logging.
- Better Auth. Authentication and session management (session cookies).
- Hosting (Railway). Application hosting and related infrastructure.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Cookies and local storage
We use session cookies (or equivalent) for authentication. The client may store preferences such as theme, focus mode, and UI state in localStorage. Analytics tools may set their own cookies or storage keys as described in their documentation.
Retention
We retain account and library data while your account is active. You can delete items and labels in the app. If you request account closure via the support widget, we will delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information for legal, security, or operational reasons.
International transfers
Service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms and contractual protections offered by those providers.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. Use the in-app support widget to make a request. You can also update or remove much of your library content directly in the product.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Open-source and parsing libraries
Content extraction and display may use open-source libraries (including Mozilla Readability, PDF.js, and mammoth) running on our servers or in your browser. Those libraries process content you choose to save in order to present a readable view; they are not separate advertising networks.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
