Finally... an Omnivore Alternative
When Omnivore shut down, a lot of people lost more than an app. They lost a habit: save something interesting now, read it later in a calm place, and keep the lines that mattered.
ReadMeliora is that place again.
What disappeared when Omnivore did
Omnivore made “read later” feel serious. You clipped a page, it came back cleaned up, and your highlights stayed with the piece. When the service closed, the web felt noisier overnight. Tabs piled up, newsletters got buried, and “I’ll read that later” meant nothing again.
What ReadMeliora is
ReadMeliora is a reading library for the web you actually want to keep. Save articles, newsletters, files, and videos. Open them in a clean column. Search what you saved. Mark something read only when you mean to.
It is free while we are in beta.
Save from the browser
The Chrome extension saves the page you are on, a sentence you select, or a screenshot. The clutter stays on the site. The piece lands in your library ready to read.
The Chrome extension will be released soon.
Read in the app
Inbox holds what you have not finished. Library is everything you are keeping. Archive is for pieces you are done with, without deleting the highlights you left behind.
Open a piece and you get a quiet column: the type size you want, focus mode, and dark mode. Videos you saved can play in the same place.
Keep the lines that matter
Highlight a passage, leave a note, or capture a region of the page. Labels help you find a topic later. Search looks across titles, notes, and the text you saved.
More ways in
Forward a newsletter to your ReadMeliora address. Subscribe to feeds. Drop in a file. The point is one library, not five inboxes.
If you miss Omnivore
You are not looking for another bookmark folder. You want a place that respects the time between “this looks good” and “I have time to read.”
That is what we are building. Create a free account, save something you have been meaning to read, and open it when you are ready.
