Highlights that stay with the piece

September 30, 2026

Saving the article is half of it. The other half is finding the sentence again six months later without rereading the whole thing.

In the reader

Highlighting text in the reader, adding a note, and opening the Highlights list for that article.

Select text, add a note if you want one, save. The highlight stays on that article. A note can be a single line: why you saved it, who to tell, what to try.

Clipped a selection with the Chrome extension? You might already have a highlight when you open the piece. Add more in the reader if you need to.

Notes

Notes are searchable with titles and article text. You do not need a paragraph. One sentence is usually enough.

The Highlights list

Highlights gathers marks from across your library. Open an entry to jump back into the article with the passage in view.

After you archive

Archiving pulls an item out of the day-to-day lists. The highlights remain. We wrote about Inbox, Library, and Archive in another post on the blog if you want the full picture.

Give it a shot

Reopen something you saved last week. Mark one paragraph, even if you read it already. Next time you search for a half-remembered quote, you will know where to look.
